Large Hand-painted Set of 9 Russian Dolls
A giant 9-piece Russian Matryoshka nesting doll set. Far from ordinary nesting dolls, each piece in this expansive nine-layer set blends classic Russian fairy tale imagery, vibrant characters, and charming animal companions.
Every single doll in this 9-piece sequence features a distinct, meticulously hand-painted illustration against a rich, sky-blue background, traditional floral accents, and a classic black-and-gold patterned babushka (headscarf) frame:
The Matriarch (Largest Doll): Features a regal, romantic illustration of a traditional Russian prince (Tsarevich) and princess against a backdrop of golden-domed orthodox cathedrals, capturing the essence of historical fairy tales.
The Swan Maiden: Depicts a classic folk tale scene where a young girl interacts with a majestic white swan taking flight over green fields.
The Meadow Songbird: Shows a serene landscape featuring a soaring wild bird under a soft, cloudy sky.
The Maiden in Thought: A beautiful portrait of a young woman resting her chin in reflection, framed by weeping willow or forest branches.
The Friendly Feline: A delightful, whimsical painting of an expressive white cat with wide eyes, nestled among garden flowers.
The Turnip / Harvest Mouse: Captures a classic fable reference, featuring a tiny mouse perched atop a giant golden turnip or harvest crop.
The Golden Fish: Illustrates a young maiden or scene reminiscent of the famous tale of the fisherman and the golden fish.
The Forest Forager: A miniature depiction of a character gathering gifts from nature.
The Micro-Doll (Smallest Piece): An astonishingly small, fully painted micro-doll that completes the magical nesting sequence.
